Empire English Mahogany Desk

The Empire Partners Desk is hand constructed in solid mahogany wood superbly made it is based on a desk made by Thomas Chippendale in 1766 for Sir Rowland Winn. The original masterpiece of English cabinetry is at his residence, Nostell Priory in Yorkshire. With brown tooled leather writing surface above a kneehole drawer between cupboards with folio divisions and another with sliding trays, to each side, carved with fluting, rosettes, trailing festoons and garland decorations and the scrolled brackets with grotesques, on paw and bracket feet. It has the basic structure of a Partners desk without the necessity of a partner. Measuring (LxDxH) 204x127x82cm.

The Empire Partners Desk is hand constructed in solid mahogany wood superbly made it is based on a desk made by Thomas Chippendale in 1766 for Sir Rowland Winn. The original masterpiece of English cabinetry is at his residence, Nostell Priory in Yorkshire. With brown tooled leather writing surface above a kneehole drawer between cupboards with folio divisions and another with sliding trays, to each side, carved with fluting, rosettes, trailing festoons and garland decorations and the scrolled brackets with grotesques, on paw and bracket feet. It has the basic structure of a Partners desk without the necessity of a partner. The colouring and polishing of which there are over twelve separate processes are all hand worked and only after the final hand waxing will we be satisfied that the finish has reached our meticulous standards. These coloured finishes have been exclusively devised to enhance the natural beauty of the wood and to produce a superb patina. The selection of the materials is also most important and only mature seasoned timbers of good configuration are chosen.
